Optical components must be matched to the source and application. Relevant information can include wavelength, beam size, polarisation, average power and pulse conditions. Mechanical compatibility alone does not establish optical suitability.
Review coatings, apertures, focusing requirements, environmental conditions and the manufacturer's stated operating limits. Damage-threshold claims depend on the test conditions and should not be compared without those conditions.
For a complete system, document the path from source to workpiece or measurement plane. Include delivery fibres, connectors, collimation, scanning or motion hardware, processing optics and monitoring.
Ask component suppliers and the system integrator to confirm the proposed configuration. Keep the agreed interface and operating conditions with your project documentation.
